What is a DSLR?

A DSLR camera or Digital Single-lens Reflex is a digital camera which is a combination of the optics and the mechanisms of a single-lens reflex camera with a digital imaging sensor. Inside the Body of the camera, there is a mirror that usually reflects the light coming from the lens up into a viewfinder, with the help of either a prism or a series of mirrors.

DSLRs are also known as the "professional camera", they are mostly being used by professional photographers globally.

Here are a few pros and cons of DSLRs

What is a Mirrorless Camera?

A mirrorless interchangeable-lens camera (DSLM) or in simple words a mirrorless camera is also known as the digital single-lens mirrorless (DSLM), it uses a digital display system rather than the normal DSLRs, as DSLRs uses an optical viewfinder. From the word "mirrorless" we can understand that it does not have any reflex mirror or optical viewfinders like a conventional DSLR camera (Digital single-lens reflex).

In mirrorless cameras, an electrical viewfinder displays everything which is seen by the image sensor. DSLMs are also known as

the "electronic viewfinder, interchangeable lens(EVIL)"

Here are a few pros and cons of mirrorless cameras

Pros

-> Lightweight - In comparison with DSLRs mirrorless cameras are lighter than DSLRs.

-> Updated technology - Mirrorless cameras belong to the modern generation and come with updated features.

-> Compact Size - Unlike DSLRs, mirrorless cameras don't contain a reflex mirror thus, it's smaller in size.

Cons

-> Battery Life - Mirrorless cameras have a poor battery life because of the smaller size of the battery.

-> Fewer lens options - Mirrorless cameras come with fewer options of the lens, however, lenses of DLSRs can be mounted on a mirrorless camera with the help of an external mount.
