Made-in-India iPhone 12

Good news for all Apple enthusiasts. As a part of the Make In India initiative, Apple recently started manufacturing iPhone 11 in India, at a plant located in Tamil Nadu. A new report now suggests that Apple is planning to manufacture it's 2020 flagship, i.e. the iPhone 12 in India as well. The Business Standard report claims that Apple is investing huge sums in its Bengaluru plant for the process. This goes in line with recent reports that Wistron, one of Apple’s manufacturing partners, is hiring 10,000 new employees for its plant in Karnataka for the manufacturing purpose of iPhones.

A tweet (pinned below) by an ex-minister from Karnataka has also mentioned that Apple will be manufacturing the iPhone 12 in a new facility at Narsapura.

This sounds good for all the apple enthusiast and great news for the country’s Make in India initiative. As of now, Apple is manufacturing the iPhone 7, iPhone XR, iPhone 11, and the iPhone SE (2020) in India. With Apple manufacturing its flagship iPhone in India, we can also expect that the new iPhone will be relatively more affordable than the iPhone 11 series. As the iPhone 11 was priced lower than the iPhone XR at launch in India. However, compared to the international markets the iPhone 11 was a bit expensive in India and this might not be the case for the iPhone 12 Series.

The iPhone 12 is expected to pack a lot of improvements over the iPhone 11 and is expected to launch in October. With almost all the iPhones getting manufactured and assembled in India the iPhone 12 series might become the first iPhone Series to go on sale on the same day as the international markets like the US and Europe.
