Flipkart SmartPack : Is it a Scam? - The Truth

Recently Flipkart has come up with a so-called plan that they are working with multiple partners on promoting, we find it very unethical what Flipkart is doing here, let us explain why Flipkart's SmartPack is a scam, and something you should not think about considering. The pitch for it goes something like, buy a brand new smartphone, use it for a while return it back to get 100% money back into your account, this way, you should be able to buy a new phone every year, and the entire thing is a scam, we'll explain to you why.

So first let's start with how the SmartPack works, you choose a smartphone to buy, any of your choice, then you need to pick the smart pack term or period, you need to pay for the smartphone upfront, which will be the price they are selling it, and on top of it you' 'll have to pay a monthly subscription for the SmartPack, you can choose gold, silver or bronze, if you choose bronze, you'll get 60% money back at the end of your term, Silver gets you 80% and gold gets you 100% of the money back at the end, which Flipkart is ordering influencers to market, that's what everybody is talking up, we'll explain the scam in depth.

So Gold, in this case, is a ridiculous Rs 1,569 Scam, for that price these are the services that you're going to be paying for  Disney+ Hotstar VIP, Sony LIV Premium, Voot Select, Zee5 Premium, Zomato Pro, Gaana Plus, Practo Plus, DocsApp Gold Membership, MedLife Advantage, Eros Now Premium, Voot Kids and Flipkart Protection Pack. The cost associated with this for 18 months in the best-case scenario will approximately be Rs 18,500, in case you're already playing for all of this, then you'll paying for the Disney + Hotstar Premium may be, these are the less expensive ones, they only total about the 20 or 30% of the entire value, most of the value here is from Practo Plus, DocsApp Gold and Flipkart Protect, so much you actually end up paying, 1,569 for 18 months is 28,242, so you end up paying this much plus if you buy a phone worth 15,500 then you'll be end up paying Rs 43,742 in 18 months for a Rs 15,500 phone, then once you return the phone they pay you 15,500 back which means you ended up paying Rs 28,242 extra all these services which will actually cost you around Rs 18,551 only if buy them just as services, this means Flipkart is taking 10,000 bucks for no reason. So they are buying back your Rs 15,500 phone for an effective Rs 5,500, now maybe you won't be able to sell your phone for that much in the future, so this is a good deal if you need all these services right? Wrong, let's take a Fiftheenishh rupee phone from 18 months back, So suppose we took a Samsung M30 phone, and you sold it after almost 18 months on OLX for about 6000 bucks, so you lost a value of around 9000 rupees on a 15,000 rupee phone over 18 months. So let's assume 18 months from now the Galaxy F41 will sell for 6,500 rupees, so that means Flipkart is paying you 1000 rupees lesser to buy a phone back, and what you can probably get yourself by selling it, so if you buy a Rs 15,500 phone today, you'll sell it for Rs 6,500 and take a Rs 9000 loss, with Flipkart, they are buying it for Rs 5,500, and you're taking a Rs 10,000 loss, and on top of that, you're paying for all those services that you don't need.

PC gamers will probably be more familiar with this concept called Humble Bundle, when multiple games are thrown together, they come on at a cheaper price, whenever you go for it back, the price is cheaper, in case of services, if you gonna be bundling all these services together, we can't take the cost of each service and say that's the value, the price needs to go down. So that's more money that Flipkart is making, all that's happening here is Flipkart is making you pay for a lot of unwanted services, and they are getting commissions from the said services, hence making money, on top of that they are underpaying you for that phone hence, making money, and at the end of all that, the influencer, who is asking you to buy all this and who is calling this great is making money.

They basically bending the consumers and taking all you have, they don't leave a loophole when they're scamming you. Their so-called offer is only available via the app itself because they don't want you to sit on your PC and calculate all the figures.
