The company stated that it will now start sharing this data with its parent company, Facebook. This caused widespread outrage and users globally accused WhatsApp of invading their privacy.

Step 1: Open WhatsApp on your smartphone.

Step 2: Tap the More (three-dot) icon in the upper-right corner.

Step 3: Tap Settings.

Step 4: Tap Account.

Step 5: Tap Delete my account.

Step 6: You have to enter your registered Phone Number in the full international format.

Step 7: Tap Delete my account.

Step 8: Select a reason for Deleting your account in the dropdown.

Step 9: Tap Delete my account.

Step 10: For the final time, tap Delete my account.

While deleting your account can be easy enough but WhatsApp makes you re-confirm your decision to do this quite a few times throughout various pages. While it might seem annoying, but it's good that the company does this to put stress on the importance of what you're doing.

Once you tap the "Delete my account" button on that final page, your account will be deleted along with all the data like your chat history, you will be removed from all the WhatsApp groups you are added in and backup on Google Drive will be gone for good. Also, the information that other users have relating to you, such as their copy of the messages you sent them will not be affected. Your log records in WhatsApp may remain in WhatsApp's database but are disassociated from personal identifiers. WhatsApp may also keep your information for things like legal issues, terms violations, or harm prevention efforts.
