Skoda Kushaq : Launched in India - Dimensions, Interior, Features, Safety, Quality, Engine

So this is it, Skoda has launched the production version of the all-new Skoda Kushaq, now you've seen it as the concept Skoda Vision IN.

Dimensions

The Skoda Kushaq is built on the Vision IN concept, you can see all the striking elements on the car, the duel or Split headlamp design, the headlamps are of course on the top just above the DRL and the foglights, this car will feature a really massively wide grill, and down below there is a nice looking skid plate. The headlight, if we look closely at those, is what Skoda calls the Skoda Crystal lighting, obviously, a node to their heritage checks is famous for, and there are many elements around the car that highlight this. Now over to the sides of the car, you can see stylistic things are pretty similar to the Vision IN, you're getting a fender-mounted badge, showing the Skoda name, 16-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels, and they are stretched out to the extremes of the car, Skoda says it got the longest wheelbase on its segment. In terms of safety, there's a lot, and things like even stability control are standard all through though as you can see that the front wheels are disc brakes and the rear are drum. At the rear, the taillight features really nice and tricked work and gives it that crystalline effect that Skoda is so proud of, and it's also pretty evident on the reflectors too. The rear does look pretty striking, down below the reflectors you're getting the skid plates.

Boot

The boot of Skoda Kushaq is pretty large at 385 liters and it's a little deep, so you might have to hoist a few bags over, but it's nice and wide and should take a fair bit of luggage.

Space

Now in the interiors, there's pretty good legroom at the back, and the seat base is also nice and comfortable, with enough thigh support. At the back seat, you're getting an Armrest and two cup holders. There's a pretty sufficient amount of headroom you'll get, not necessarily as much as the legroom but it would be sufficient for a 5.9 feet person. Now in terms of features, you'll get dual AC vents, there isn't any control for the temperature or fan speed at the back, but you have two vents to keep you cool, below you have Two USB slots so, you would obviously need your type C chargers.

Interior

Now moving towards the driver's seat it's pretty impressive, stylistically there's a lot that inspired from the Vision IN concept, there's a lovely little finish that runs from the dashboard to the door pads too, looks pretty nice and we must say that when we have seen that earlier in pictures it seemed to be reflective but it isn't so its comes in a nice matte finish and looks very premium. The Steering wheel comes with a premium look, it comes with a two-spoke unit or Skoda likes to call it a floating boss, and you'll some little nulled buttons on the steering wheel, that kind of stick out and float as well. You'll be getting Two type C charging slots at the front as well.

Features

Let's move towards the features of this Car, here we have dials which are traditional dials, they do look nice and clean, very crisp and clean font but it just been so much nicer to see a display or a digital dial there too, Perhaps they're just saving it for the facelift or an update. This car comes with a 10-inch touchscreen in the center, It got all of the connectivity that you would typically expect, Android Auto, Apple Car Play, and you have of course your're trip computer and various other functions there. It also got the Sygic, Ganna, and a few local apps that are already built-in, that Skoda has developed with local players from our market. The other bits that are highlighted in this car are the seats, this car comes with ventilated front seats and you also have a climate control system which is operated with a touch panel now, this is something which we have preferred with a button rather than a touch panel. There are other features like LED headlamps, Electric sunroof, Leather upholstery, padded shifters (DSG), Auto climate control, keyless entry and go, 6 speakers with subwoofers.

Safety Features

This car comes with the following safety features

  • 6 airbags
  • Tyre pressure monitor (optional)
  • ABS
  • ISOFIX child seat mounts
  • ESC
  • Height adjustable read headrests
  • Hill hold control (optional)
  • Auto-dimming Mirror
  • Quality

Now Skoda has come up with many features but there are a few areas where they have tried to save on cost, some of the bits are plastics used down below are hard and a bit scratchy, up on the roof, the roof lining is not the knitted type but woven so, this doesn't look all that premium and another big miss would be the very big or the panoramic sunroofs, you do have a sunroof here but this isn't the once that are offered in some of its competitors, but aside that, though the cabin is a pretty impressive area, Skoda has done a pretty good job of keeping things nice and pretty in the cabin.

    Engine

The Skoda Kushaq is powered by a 1-liter TSI engine which puts out 115 horsepower and importantly Skoda is very proud to say that this engine is made right here in India, it's mated to a Manual Gearbox, if you take a look under the hood you'll find out that its a very compact unit, there's a bigger power plant of 1.5L also. So this was the India spec production version of the Skoda Kushaq, the car's gonna launch in June. Stay tuned to CERadar for more updates related to tech and automobiles.
