Toyota currently has a car called Yaris in the market, but its numbers are not encouraging from the beginning itself, Yaris has failed to attain numbers like Fortuner and Innova, so because of this Toyota is incurring losses in case of the Yaris project, it is not as much profitable as other cars of Toyota, in fact, Corolla was a big hit for them, but Yaris didn't make it to make that many numbers. Now the news is that Yaris will be discontinued and Toyota might come up with a new sedan to replace Yaris.
What options does Toyota have with them? Toyota can check what is available with them in their International Market, thus they got a direct option to pick up a sedan which they can launch easily and the investment will be much less in comparison with launching an all-new product which they already have with them in the International market. A simpler solution is there other than that which is the Formula Maruti. Earlier they already took the Baleno, they made the Urban Cruiser Brezza, and their 3rd new product is going to come in the market which will be costing around Rs 9 Lakhs is the Maruti Ciaz. Recently many pictures of it have been spotted, where the Front Grill of Ciaz has been spotted, and it will going to come very soon in the market.
Now the question might come to your mind that Why is Toyota copying Maruti? Toyota and Suzuki have tied up on the Global level, now the advantage of this tie up is where Toyota's cars are sold the most, there Suzuki will sell their cars with the same platform and with the same engine technology, but after changing the shape of the car. The same is to be replicated in India also, but registration and Homologation take 3-6 Years Approx, the Sign up was made just a few years back, which means it doesn't reach the 6 years mark yet because of which they don't have new cars in the market. So to increase their sales, Toyota will use Ciaz as the New Sedan.
Maruti Ciaz comes with 4 variants which are Sigma, Delta, Zeta, and Alpha, and it comes with a 1.5-liter Petrol Engine which comes with 5 Speed Manual Transmission or 4 Speed Automatic Transmission, Smart hybrid technology also offered in this. Earlier 1.3 Litre and 1.5 liter Diesel Engines used to come in Ciaz but later it was discontinued, now it only comes with the Petrol Engine, because of this reason you'll get to see this engine in the Toyota's Ciaz model, we yet don't know the name of the car, but it will be revealed soon. The launch of this car is expected to be by this year, the last year they have launched Urban Cruzer and 2 years ago they have introduced Glanza in the market. Now it's time for this New Sedan to come into the market. Somewhere the buyer will get two advantages of this, first, they will get Toyota's service rather than Maruti, second, Toyota gives a longer warranty under their badging. Now if you compare the pricing of Toyota and Maruti, in case of the similar cars, then you'll see there's not a big difference in them, but Toyota gives you 3 Years Warranty and Maruti gives you 2 Years Warranty, Maruti's 2 Years warranty is only for 40,000 KMS, which a very less in comparison with what Toyota is offering you. Moreover, their ownership cost also doesn't have much difference in it. So why not to Toyota over Maruti whereas from Toyota you have chances to get better service at the same time you'll be getting a longer warranty at a little extra cost.
So if you want to consider Ciaz then you should wait for a little bit more for the Toyota's Ciaz, it is expected to come just before Diwali, and it is supposed to come in three variants Mid, High, and Premium.
