Let's start with the launch timeline of Maruti Jimny, so it'll be going to come around Mid 2022. Earlier Jimny wasn't launched in India, the company didn't have any plans of launching Jimny in India immediately. Its manufacturing used to be done only in Japan and it was exported to Europe, but later the export of Jimny in Europe stopped, it is because Jimny failed to fulfill the safety norms in Europe, because of which Suzuki was not selling Jimny in Europe. After that, they have decided to shift the manufacturing from Japan to India and from India, they will export it to other countries. So the 2 door model of Jimny came to India from Japan. All these things happened last year, so Jimny is being manufactured in India, in the Gujarat plant and it is being exported to other countries from India but it is not kept in India. They will not launch this car in the Indian market as they know very well that if they sell this car in India then they won't get much benefit, and the buyer won't come towards it, because Thar is already there and it also has a long waiting too, so they're thinking that they might gather a very small number of buyers towards them. In simple words, the amount of car buyers decreases for the SUV with 2 doors. So because of these reasons, they have decided that they will launch 5 doors Jimny in India. To do so much hard work is needed, they have to change the size of the car, the dynamics also change, wheelbase also changes, space also changes, new doors have to be attached, so much engineering is done, and many such parameters are there which changes in the car.
From the recent leaks we came to know that the Jimny which is going to come in India, it's wheelbase will increase, the overall length of the car will increase, according to a Japanese website this car length will increase by 300mm if you compare it to the regular 2 door version, with that 4x4 will be coming, and as well as the petrol engine will also come in it. For now, the Engine which comes in Jimny is a 1.5-liter Petrol Engine, but this engine will be tweaked and this same 1.5-liter engine also comes in Brezza, but in Brezza 4x4 technology is not given because of which it is much lighter, and Jimny is made on Ladder frame and moreover it comes with 4x4 technology that means the car becomes much heavier. So because of these reasons it is expected that it will come with a turbocharged engine, so the expected engine options are 1.4 Liter Turbo Petrol Engine or 1.5 Liter Turbo Petrol Engine, but it's not sure yet, but definitely, another engine will be given to it which will a Turbocharged engine. There are fewer chances of a 1.0-liter engine, and other than that 1.4 liters is an option which Suzuki already makes, so we are expecting that they will bring a Turbocharged engine on the same.
You can expect its price to be around Rs 9 - 14 Lakhs Approx. and it will not be coming with a Diesel Engine, it will only come with the Petrol engine. And Brezza and Jimny will catter different categories. The features which come in the regular Jimny will also be coming in the Jimny 5 door version. Features which will be given in Jimny are TouchScreen System with Android Auto and Apple Car play similar to which normally comes in Brezza and Ciaz, Reverse Parking Camera, Push Start/Stop button, Circular Dials same as Jimny 2 door, the pattern of the steering wheel will be similar too, it will come with regular seats rather than leather upholstery, Manual hand brake, and with all these, you'll get 4x4 technology, and this will be offered in both Manual and Automatic on this car. Rumors are there that Maruti's Smart Hybrid technology will also be offered with the Petrol engine, but it is not confirmed. In short, the New Maruti Jimny seems to be a very interesting product, and it will be offering a good number of features and technology is also being offered, moreover, you'll be getting 4x4 at an exciting price, so it is an expected segment to grow out quickly, and it will clearly hamper the whole compact SUV segment, like Nexon, XUV 300, Brezza, Venue, It will affect these cars because the styling of Jimny is the biggest talking point of this car, and moreover with Maruti Network, the built quality you will be getting on a ladder frame chassis on a Maruti should be good.
