Microsoft has just announced Windows 11, which marks the beginning of a new era for Windows as a desktop operating system. Windows 11 will be a favorite among users who desire a minimal and clean user experience, thanks to its impeccably designed new UI elements. So, if you're wondering if your Windows 10 PC can run Windows 11, take a look at our easy guide below. Microsoft has released a simple PC Health Check app that allows you to check your PC's compatibility with the coming Windows 11 update.
Steps to check if your existing PC is eligible for Windows 11 update
Windows 10 users will be able to download Windows 11 for free, but there are a few system requirements to be aware of. Apart from that, we're not sure if Windows 7 users will get the Windows 11 upgrade, but follow the instructions below to see if your PC is eligible.
- Install the PC Health Check app (for free) on your Windows PC.
- Now, install and launch the PC Health Check app that you just installed.
Windows 11 PC Health Check - At the top of the screen, you'll see a banner that says "Introducing Windows 11." To see if your PC is compatible with Windows 11, click "Check Now."
- The PC Health Check app will inform you if your PC fulfills the system requirements to run Windows 11 in a couple of seconds.
- Don't worry if the software says "The PC can't run Windows 11." Even though the TPM module is present on the motherboard, most PCs leave it disabled. Check for any mentions of TPM/ fTPM in the BIOS/UEFI. Then, enable it. Aside from that, make sure “Secure Boot” is turned on. Now run the app to see if your PC is capable of running Windows 11.
- Even if your PC doesn't meet the Windows 11 minimum system requirements, Microsoft will provide the Windows 11 update to PCs that fulfill the Windows Insider Program requirements. According to Microsoft in an official blog post, users who are part of the Dev and Beta channels will receive the Windows 11 upgrade. however, they will not receive Windows 11 as a stable release.

Moreover, even if their PC does not fulfill the system requirements, all Windows Insiders who have been installing Windows 10 Dev Channel builds on their PCs up until June 24, 2021, will be allowed to continue installing Windows 11 Insider Preview builds. There is, however, a catch, and you must be careful while installing the Dev Channel builds.
If your PC, which you're using to test Insider releases, has a problem or error and you need to reinstall Windows 10 using the Media Creation Tool, Microsoft has some bad news for you. The company will consider your reinstall as if it were a new Windows PC, and the minimum requirements will be enforced. As a result, you won't be able to install Windows 11 on your PC again, even the Insider preview builds.
Windows 11 Minimum System Requirements
- Processor: 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster with 2 or more cores on a compatible 64-bit processor or System on a Chip (SoC)
- Memory: 4 GB RAM
- Storage: 64 GB or larger storage device
- System firmware: UEFI, Secure Boot capable
- TPM: TPM Trusted Platform Module (TPM) version 2.0
