Tesla Model 3 Spotted in Mumbai-Pune Expressway

Two Tesla Model 3 cars have been spotted on Indian roads for the second time after being spotted in Pune a few months ago. According to rumors, the electric cars were coated in camouflage for early testing ahead of their India launch. They were spotted in a parking area on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway.

The number plates on the spotted Tesla Model 3 vehicles are MH 14 TCL 226 and MH 14 TCL 337, respectively. One of the Model 3 units appears to be slightly higher than the other in the pictures. Although it is extremely plausible, there is no definitive evidence that Tesla will improve the car's ground clearance for Indian roads.

Due to the fact that Tesla does not have a production facility in India, the Tesla Model 3 will surely be costly. On the other hand, the government is attempting to entice the automaker by guaranteeing lower production costs than China. Furthermore, according to recent estimates, the country may end up lowering import duties on electric vehicles by up to 40% to attract overseas manufacturers.

According to rumors, the Tesla Model 3 will arrive in India in late 2021. Moreover, the Tesla Model 3 is projected to have a starting price of roughly Rs. 60 lakhs, including customs charges. If the government lowers import duties, the price is expected to fall. That is something we will have to wait and see.

Tesla's highly anticipated debut in India comes at a time when the two-wheeler electric vehicle market is also building up steam. Aside from Ather Energy, new entrants to the market include Simple Energy and Ola Electric, with their S1 and S1 Pro models. According to all predictions, India's electric vehicle ecosystem will be shaped in the next years.

That's all for this post. Stay tuned to CERadar for more such content.
