If you've tried to leave your house in recent times, you'll know that your vaccination status is a crucial factor in keeping you safe from the virus. You are asked to certify that you are vaccinated whether you are visiting a shopping center or boarding a train or flight. While you may always download and show them your COVID-19 vaccination certificate, the Indian government is now making the procedure easier.
The CoWIN KYC-VS API is now available to track vaccination status
CoWIN has developed a new Know Your Customer’s/ Client’s Vaccination Status (KYC-VS) API to help businesses verify the vaccination status of their customers. It will be useful while taking public transportation, reserving a hotel, and so forth. You may now validate your vaccination status without having to produce your vaccination certificate.
A user will receive an OTP after entering their name and contact number on a KYC-VS API-enabled website. CoWIN will provide a response stating the individual's vaccination status when it has been confirmed.
“A real-life example could be when at the time of booking a railway ticket, an individual will input the necessary details for buying the ticket and if required, the concerned entity will also get the vaccination status in the same transaction, with the due consent of the individual,” says the government’s press release.
According to the government, the KYC-VS API is consent-based and privacy-preserving. Additionally, the CoWIN team's engineers have created a website with this API that businesses may integrate into any system.
