When it comes to allow users to change their last seen status, WhatsApp has long taken an all-or-nothing approach. You can adjust the privacy settings right now to allow everyone, your contacts, or nobody to see when you were last online on the messaging service. WhatsApp will soon let you to choose who should not see your last seen status and hide it from them, according to a new report from tipster WABetaInfo.
How to Hide Someone's Last Seen Status on WhatsApp
Going by the report, WhatsApp is preparing a “My contacts except…” option in the Last Seen privacy setting that you can access from Settings -> Account -> Privacy -> Last seen. You may choose which contacts to hide your last seen from, similar to how you can hide your WhatsApp status from friends. This option will be accessible for profile photos and about settings as well.

WhatsApp's new feature finds a good mix between keeping a safe distance from friends and allowing users to stay connected to the individuals they care about. It should, or in the very least, assist to avoid unwanted exchanges, and it will likely come as a big relief to people who are allergic to small talk. Now that we've arrived, a feature to hide the "online status" would be great.
You won't be able to see the last seen status of persons you hide on WhatsApp, as is usual. Given that you are not sharing yours with them, that is a reasonable trade-off. The option to hide your last seen from certain persons is presently being developed and will be available in future versions. For the time being, the feature is only accessible in the WhatsApp beta channel. We will let you know when it is released publicly, so stay tuned to Ceradar for further information.
