Jeep has just teased the new Meridian which is a 7 seater SUV based on the Compass coming to India later this year and in this post 5 things that you need to know about the upcoming SUV Jeep Meridian.
What does Meridian mean?
Jeep says they have shortlisted 70 different names for this SUV which is called commander in the global market in India they choose Meridian name which is inspired by the Meridian 770 line which passes through the length of the country and connects a lot of states the Jeep Meridian test unit was also driven across the length and breadth of the country and the vehicle is claimed to be tested across every terrain India has to offer.
How different is Jeep Meridian compared to the Jeep Compass?
To differentiate the styling of the 5 seaters and the 7 seater SUVs Jeep has heavily redesigned the vehicle in terms of design, so it will get a new fascia a new rear end and if you talk about the sides the vehicle will get larger windows and longer doors. On the inside, the Jeep Compass and the Meridian should look identical to the design of the dashboard the layout of the cabin will be similar on both the car, but of course, you will get some new color themes new rose gold accents, and leather and sweet fabric upholstery.
What features will the Jeep Meridian offer?
The Jeep Compass itself gets a long list of features and the Meridian is also likely to be quite similar in this case it will get a large 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple Carplay and Android Auto possibly wireless as well and the vehicle will also get a 10.1-inch digital instrument cluster apart from that the vehicle will get a wireless phone charger, electrically adjustable front seats, electric tailgate, Sunroof among many other things and in terms of safety also it will be loaded to the gills with safety equipment.
What Engine will the Jeep Meridian get?
The Jeep Meridian is expected to get the same 2 ltr multi jet 2 diesel engine from the Jeep Compass itself making 170 ps 350 nm and on the Meridian also it will be offered with a 9 speed automatic just like the Jeep Compass. The higher variants of the Jeep Meridian are also expected to come with 4x4 again just like the Jeep Compass while the lower variant could make do with the two-wheel-drive configuration.
Jeep Meridian Expected Pricing, Launch Date, and Rivals
So one of the biggest questions in your mind will be When the Jeep Meridian will be launched What is the pricing of the Jeep Meridian and What cars will the Jeep Meridian Rival? Well, the vehicle is expected to be launched in India by June 2022. In terms of pricing, it will be more expensive than the Jeep Compass by a couple of lakhs. The Jeep Meridian is mainly going to compete with the Skoda Kodiaq but the customers who are looking for the Innova Crysta or even the XUV 700 might look at some of the lower variants of Jeep Meridian, Of course, they will have to increase their budget quite a bit but then again they will get a more premium SUV in that price bracket. Meanwhile, prospective buyers of the Toyota Fortuner and the MG Gloster will also have a worthy alternative to look at.
